3.3.2.1 Marker 5 colors. The background shall be blue. The figure and rim shall be red for class 1,
yellow for class 2, and white for class 3.
3.3.2.2 Marker 6 colors. The background shall be blue. The figure and rim shall be white.
3.3.2.3 Marker 7 colors. The background shall be white. The circle and diagonal shall be red. The
figure shall be black No. 17038 of FED-STD-595.
3.3.2.4 Marker 8 through 12 colors. The background shall be yellow. The letters shall be black
No. 17038 of FED-STD-595.
3.3.3 Type III, markers 13. 14, and 15. The markers shall be made from the material specified in
3.2.2. The designs and dimensions shall conform to figure 3. A tolerance of ± 1/8 inch shall apply for
the marker dimensions. The color of the background shall be white. The circle and diagonal shall be red.
The inserts shall be black No. 17038 of FED-STD-595.
3.3.3.1 Markers 16 and 17. The markers shall be made from material specified in 3.2.2. The design
and dimensions shall conform to figure 4. A tolerance of ±1/8 inch shall apply for the marker
dimensions. The color or the background shall be white. The word "WARNING" shall be red and all
other lettering shall be Black 17038 of FED-STD-595.
3.4 Shelf-life marking (see 6.5). Each unit pack and shipping container shall include type II shelf-life
item data of MIL-STD-129, except that date of delivery shall be given in lieu of date of manufacture.
The inspection/test date shall be 12 months after the date of delivery of the marking material of marker,
as applicable.
3.5 Workmanship. The markers shall conform to the quality of product established by this
specification.
4. VERIFICATION
4.1 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows:
a. First article inspection (see 4.2).
b. Conformance inspection (see 4.3).
4.2 First article inspection. When a first article is required (see 3.1 and 6.2), it shall be examined for the
defects specified in 4.3.2 and 4.3.3.
4.3 Conformance inspection. Unless otherwise specified, sampling for inspection shall be performed in
accordance with ASQ Z1.4. Unless otherwise specified, the Acceptable Quality Limits (AQLs) listed in
this section shall be used to establish the sample size, however, the acceptance number shall be zero.
4.3.1 Component and material inspection. Components and materials shall be inspected in accordance
with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or
qualified in this specification or applicable purchase document.
