Dimensions. Shall be as follows:
(a) Letter height As specified in contract or order.
(b) Liner height (1) Letter height up to 2 inches plus 5/16 inch.
(2) Letter height over 2 inches plus 9/16 inch.
(c) Transfer sheet height Liner height minus 1/16 inch.
(d) Width of left and right margin (1) 1/8 inch for legends up to 2 inches high.
(2) 1/4 inch for legends over 2 inches high.
(e) Top and bottom margins (letters on liner) Equal.
(f) Alignment of liner and transfer sheet Edges of liner flush with edges of transfer sheet at top and sides.
(Liner to protrude 1/16 inch at bottom edge.)
Alternate. Legend markers which can not be adequately described through above requirements shall be
constructed in accordance with drawing(s) to be furnished by the contracting officer.

Ordering data. Procurement documents should specify the following in addition to the ordering data listed in the
general specification:
(a) Construction style.
(b) Legend content (see list of legends).
(c) Size (height of lettering) (see lettering).
(d) Heights, dimensions, and configurations if other than Series C Alphabet.
(e) Drawing number, if required (see construction) (alternate).
(f) Degree of gross after overcoating.
Changes from previous issue. Marginal notations are not used in this revision to identify changes with respect to
the previous issue due to the extent of the changes.
